Anne attended Northern Illinois University and received a biochemistry science degree.
During this time she met who became her husband David Swanson. They decided to get married after Anne graduated. They went to the University of Wisconsin together so that they could get their graduate degrees.
Anne earned a doctorate in biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin. She then became a professor at Edgewood College. At Edgewood College Anne was also chosen to head the physical Sciences Department.
